Jane Avril (1893) The worldly, eccentric dancer Jane Avril (La Mélinite) requested Toulouse-Lautrec to design a poster for her performance at the Jardin de Paris. Jane is dancing a provocative can-can, captured in a silhouette framing of the double bass player. This lithograph shows the first features of the famous Art Nouveau style.
